Björnskog Stuga includes all the amenities you need to enjoy your stay! You will find a fully stocked kitchen that includes coffee, tea, sugar, and paper towels. Bathroom amenities include shampoo, conditioner, soap, towels, wash cloths, and a hair dryer.
Please note that this property is not appropriate for young children given the steep stairs to the loft.

We accept direct bookings by calling or emailing Susan at 651-233-0267 or susan.rodsjo@gmail.com. A two-night minimum stay is required for this property. A 50% down payment is required at the time of booking, and the remaining 50% is due one week before your stay. A Quickbooks invoice will be sent upon booking request, and payments are accepted via credit card, bank ACH, or Venmo.

Experience an Authentic Swedish Settler's Cabin
The Real Deal
This authentic Swedish settler's cabin - originally built around 1860 on Bloom Lake in Shafer, Minnesota - features a steep gabled roof, original hand-hewn logs, and white-trimmed windows in a classic Swedish style. Dovetail corners -- visible both inside and out -- add a distinctive charm and structural strength without the need for nails. The logs are secured with the original hand-carved wooden pegs. We moved the log structure to Scandia in 2023 and renovated it to modern standards in 2024 - adding a gabled entryway on the front and a full bath addition on the back.
Spacious Sleeping Loft
A cozy loft bedroom is tucked under a steeply pitched ceiling that features hand-peeled tamarack rafters and live-edge roof boards. This spacious room includes two queen beds, a chair that unfolds into a single bed, and a cozy reading chair.
Vaulted Great Room
The vaulted Great Room includes a couch adorned with an authentic Scandinavian reindeer pelt, chairs, desk, big-screen TV, and a cozy day bed with sheepskin fur pillows that can be used for seating or sleeping. The room is equipped with board games and reading material.
Rustic-Chic Eat-in Kitchen
The spacious eat-in kitchen blends natural, earthy elements with a touch of sophisticated charm. A counter-height dining table provides a cozy space to gather while preparing and sharing meals, and inside the cabinets you'll find an abundance of dishware and cookware. The gas stove and oven are perfect for gourmet cooking - and a large sink and dishwasher bring modern joy to clean-up.
Split Bathroom
The spacious bathroom addition allows multiple guests to get ready at once. The main space features two sinks atop a vintage oak vanity. A separate room with a door features a ceramic-tile shower and toilet with heated floors. A second toilet area with sliding door is located on the other side of the vanity. The wood floors in the vanity space are the original fir floors reclaimed from the kitchen of the original cabin.
