Tucked in the quiet embrace of forest, our Swedish log cabin is a haven of calm, designed with a perfect blend of hygge comfort and timeless Scandinavian elegance. The natural wood beams and weathered timber walls bring a sense of grounding, while the minimalistic Swedish design brings an air of simplicity. Soft textiles and muted tones create a serene retreat, with every corner inviting you to slow down, breathe, and rest at ease. Originally built by Swedish immigrants in the 1800s, the historic cabin blends tasteful Scandinavian antiques with modern amenities such as a fully equipped kitchen, in-floor radiant heat, high-speed internet, and a big-screen TV. The spacious attic loft features two queen beds adorned with fluffy down comforters, tucked beneath a steeply pitched roof that showcases the original tamarack roof rafters.

Our home and cabin include all the amenities you need to enjoy your stay! You will find a fully stocked kitchen that includes coffee, tea, sugar, and paper towels. Bathroom amenities include shampoo, conditioner, soap, towels, wash cloths, and hair dryers. Toys and a stair gate are available upon request. Scandia Forest Lodge has both a Keurig and drip coffee maker.

Björnskog Stuga Amenities and Calendar
We accept direct bookings by calling or emailing Susan at 651-233-0267 or susan.rodsjo@gmail.com. A three-night minimum stay is required for Forest Lodge -- and two nights for Björnskog Stuga. A 50% down payment is required at the time of booking, and the remaining 50% is due a week before your stay. A Quickbooks invoice will be sent upon booking request, and payments are accepted via credit card, bank ACH, or Venmo.
Please note that our family has a dog and cat, which spend time in both Forest Lodge and Björnskog Stuga. Although each space is fully cleaned before your stay, these homes may not be appropriate for people with pet allergies.
Paul and I welcome you to Scandia, home of the first Swedish settlement in Minnesota! We are proud to share the natural beauty and cultural heritage offered in our little town in the historic St. Croix River Valley.
Paul grew up in near Oslo, Norway, and we travel frequently to both Norway and Sweden. During our vacations, we have come to love the charm and cozy nature of Scandinavian homes and cabins. Across the Swedish countryside, you will find little "falun red" cabins ("stuga" in Swedish) -- buildings that were historically family farmhouses. We were surprised to learn how many of these log structures exist in the St. Croix River Valley, built in the 1800s by Swedish immigrants using craftsman skills learned in the home country. We are thrilled to have saved a little piece of Minnesota immigrant history with Björnskog Stuga - and look forward to sharing it with you.
We look forward to answering your questions about our properties and the local area. Our homes are located midway between historic Stillwater and Taylors Falls. In addition to great local restaurants and entertainment, you will be a short drive to one of the best tourist towns in the state - Stillwater.
We are happy to provide recommendations for beautiful hikes, local restaurants and activities, wineries, gift shops, and museums.
